Amazon purchase #1: Hooded Sleep Pod
So I got this with the hope that it would help my daughter sleep better through the night. It shipped fast and came well packaged. The material is soft and stretchy. I don’t see anyone getting hot in it. It was super easy putting on, and my kids immediately said it was cool. One kid didn’t like the hood, while the other did. I’ve only had to trim 1 loose thread near the feet so far.
This sleep pod has been touted as helping those in the neurospicy community, but I must point out to those in the community who face incontinence issues, this might not be the thing for you. Having your arms trapped and forced duck walking will only hinder the journey to the potty.
So, did it make a significant difference in my kids’ sleep? Not really. Did they like it and think it’s cool? Absolutely. Is it worth the money? Not really, find a cheaper one on
Sleep Pod uses Deep Touch Pressure Therapy, cocooning you in a calming comfort to help enhance sleep and reduce tension and worry. Plus our integrated Hug Hood allows you to embrace head-to-toe comfort, so you can drift away into a rejuvenating sleep, undisturbed by distractions, for a truly restful night's sleep.
Purchase #2: The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter
I got this book through a recommendation from a fellow mom. The topic of discussion was my daughter’s phobia of bugs. The book recommendation was intended to help us as a family get outside more and get use to the discomfort of nature, including the heat, bugs, and weather.
I admit this isn’t just an issue of bug phobias. I do not like the discomforts of the outdoors. If it’s hot, windy, rainy, snowy, really cold, or anything other than a lovely 65-degree, blue-sky day, then you probably won’t find me outside. There was a time when I loved to be outside. I still dream of becoming an outdoor mom, so this book was high on my expectations for getting motivated.
Unfortunately, this isn’t my preferred type of reading. This story was more of a documentary of Michael’s travelling, and less of a practical self-help type of book. I know that this book is exactly the type of reading a lot of people love! It’s just not my style. I don’t really get motivated by others’ stories. His journey is full of interesting moments and lots of empowering content for those who have a hard time seeing just how important outdoor time is.
So did it do what I wanted? No. Is it a good read? Yes! Is it worth the money? Absolutely, plus there’s different formats on
In many ways, we’re more comfortable than ever before. But could our sheltered, temperature-controlled, overfed, underchallenged lives actually be the leading cause of many our most urgent physical and mental health issues? In this gripping investigation, award-winning journalist Michael Easter seeks out off-the-grid visionaries, disruptive genius researchers, and mind-body conditioning trailblazers who are unlocking the life-enhancing secrets of a counterintuitive solution: discomfort.
Amazon Purchase #3: Overcoming Anxiety in Children & Teens
This book was also a recommendation by a fellow mom of a neurospicy kid. I was sharing with her how my daughter’s fears were really taking hold of her to the point that the other kids were negatively impacted. This book was intended on giving me practical ways to help my kid get past her fears and I must say, it has helped!
It was a short read, but very practical and straight to the point. I was able to immediately implement some of the practices, and I’ve seen results pretty quickly. My daughter liked the breathing and meditation exercises. I liked the fear ladder idea and how to do exposure therapy for different needs.
So, did it do what I wanted? Yes! Is it a good read? Yes, short and to the point. Is it worth the price? A resounding yes!
Practical and evidence based treatments for anxiety are described in an extremely user friendly format. Parents and clinicians alike will be able to help both typical and autistic children overcome debilitating anxiety. Simple to use fear ladders, "think like a scientist" cue cards, meditation guides, physical exercises, and cognitive behavioral strategie are shown to help children gradually confront their fears. If you need simple, ready to use strategies that work, this is the book for you.
Purchase #4: Hygge Sheets® Potty Training Pee Pads
So I got these because I hate changing bed sheets in the middle of the night. I got the twin size, and it was honestly bigger than I thought it would be. It really covers all the areas where pee might go. It fits the twin perfectly, and you simply tuck the sides beneath the mattress. The feel isn’t as soft as a bed sheet, unfortunately, but still soft enough that my kids don’t complain. It’s waterproof and washable, plus it comes in a pack of 2! So there’s always a backup to replace if the first one gets soiled.
Does it do what I want? Yes. Is it of good quality and work? Yup! Is it worth the price? Yes.
Hygge sheets bed wetting protection pad for kids have 5 layers of protection, which ensure that your mattress remains 100% dry and protected against night time accidents. The bedwetting pads are 34" x 36" (plus tucks) and a perfect fit for twin, toddler and crib beds. Not suitable for under 2 years old.
