How To Record Your Homeschool Paper-free

One of the biggest challenges for me in the first few years of homeschooling was what to do with all the paper!? My daughter loved workbooks and I always felt bad for throwing her work away. Plus, I knew I needed some sort of portfolio or record of what she was learning and her progress. I ended up keeping all her work in crates. This, however, started to take up too much space. I needed to figure out a new way of doing this. In the modern age of technological advancements, I knew there was a solution. The solution included CamScanner.

I remembered back in college, I would use an app to scan a document and then I could email it to myself. I downloaded it again and this time it had made some upgrades since I last used it. They had made a feature where the documents you scan will automatically be uploaded into the cloud, one drive, or whatever hard drive you wanted. This worked perfectly for me and it has since been a space-saver. Let me show you how I did this!

Download CamScanner

CamScanner is the app I use on my Android Phone, but it is also available on iOS, MacOS, and Windows. Go ahead and download the app to your phone or tablet, whichever you prefer. Make an account using your email or phone number. The icon looks like this.

The basic plan will work for this task, however, I recommend the premium version for $4.99/Mo to have access to all the features plus it comes with more cloud storage space if you don't already have cloud storage. Check out the differences between them.

After you've downloaded CamScanner, you're going to need to set up your cloud storage and uploading. Follow these steps to set it up. You're going to click on “Me” at the bottom of the app. Then you will click on “More Settings” at the bottom of the list.

This is what you will see after clicking “More Settings.” Next you will click “Share & Export.”

After you click “Share & Export” you will first log into your chosen cloud account by clicking “Manage Accounts.” It will look like this.

Sign into your account and then go back to the previous page. Next you will click on what is circled in yellow. “Auto Upload.” This is where you will choose where you upload to and into what format the files will be in.

There you go! You are all ready to go and you can begin scanning in your docs using CamScanner! Here are the steps to do that.

  1. Click the camera at the bottom of the home page.

2. Take a picture of your document using “Single” or “Batch” if you have more than 1 paper.

3. Crop your photo so that only your document is scanned. Thankfully the CamScanner automatically detects the edges of the paper.

4. You can continue to add more photos, or click next and have CamScanner process all your docs and make them look proper.

That is all there is to it! You can completely digitalize your papers and school docs easily! I loved CamScanner in college and I continue to love this app for my kids' school.

If you want to try CamScanner out, there is a 30 day trial for their Premium features! This app is also extremely useful for working moms and college moms! Try it out and let me know how you like to use it!

I would love to include you in my prayers as we both pray over our lives and children. Feel free to email me and let me know how your journey is going.
