1. Alone time

Yes, this is still the most obvious choice! She is with SOMEONE 24 hours a day. You might say, well except when she goes to the bathroom or takes a shower, but guess what, even then, there is usually a child or partner taking up that valuable personal space too. Plan out a way to give her some time alone, whether its a couple hours or an overnighter. You can leave or you can send her to a hotel retreat (all expenses paid of course). Whatever the means, do your best to give her uninterrupted time by herself.

2. New Printer

This is a surprise one for many of you. It is not often you will hear a complaint about the printer unless you are there when it is being used. However, the topic of printers is a hot-button issue for us homeschooling moms. Between ink prices and speed of printing, it is hard to find a good printer! Let me help you and offer the most recommended printer by fellow moms this year!

3. Experience Gift Cards

After being in the house for most of the week and maybe going to the local library or local tourist attraction 50 times this year, it is time to experience something MORE! Consider booking an experience (or get a gift certificate) for your homeschooling mom to go on. This can be something for just her (like a spa experience), for her and the kids (Maybe a safari ride or super cool museum), or for the whole family (like the Mall of America or an amusement park)!

4. Books

SO MANY BOOKS! Honestly, you can't really go too wrong with this one. If she is a reader, take note of the genre of books she likes to read, and then maybe buy the top 3 (or 5) books in that genre! I know, your bookshelves are probably already full (see the next bullet) and she has books on the shelf she's never touched but have been on her to-read list for years. It doesn't matter. For us readers, we can't have enough books. Let us figure out how to manage the extra books. You just worry about buying them for us.

5. Bookshelves

To go with the new books you just got her, buy some bookshelves! This can be ones to install onto the wall, or a nook to put in an empty corner. Look around the house to find some unused spaces, like under the bed, above the dresser, in the corner of the living room or hallway. There is always a place for books!

6. Housekeeper/Clean House

This is another one that you probably guessed. If you live in the house with your homeschooling mom, then take a look around. Take off your socks, use your hands, and walk around the house. Are you catching dirt in your toes? Do you feel dust with your hands or food on the surfaces? Can you see the bottom of the sink? If you needed to make a sandwich, could you find a counter space to do it? Go lay on the floor in the living room wearing all black clothes. When you get up, are you pretty clean still? Go sniff the bedding in the rooms. Smell good? Check out the trash cans in the rooms, toilets, and sinks. More than likely, after doing these things, you have a good idea of what needs to be done around the house. If you need extra inspiration, then check out this whole house cleaning checklist.

If you don't live in the same house, then hire someone or get a gift certificate for a month or two of cleaning from a local cleaning company.

7. 1828 Merriam Webster Hardcopy Dictionary

This one was a surprise even to me. I honestly hadn't heard of this one before making this list. Apparently, this dictionary was one of the original dictionaries and wasn't “dumbed down” like modern dictionaries are. This is a great teaching resource and provides a wealth of information for students and parents! You can find it on Amazon!

8. Binding Machine

As homeschoolers, there are SO MANY printables we take advantage of. It is just so much easier than waiting for books to be delivered, or dealing with tearing pages out and rearranging them or collating them. Give the gift of a binding machine to allow the mom in your life a little luxury of convenience. Here are some options for you from Amazon.

9. Laminator

You might not think a laminator could be much use, but it helps so much! Not only does it help cut back on costs allowing you to reuse materials, but it is also makes things so much more durable! Having a laminator can really upgrade the whole homeschooling experience. Before I got one, I thought that a laminator would be a big, heavy, expensive machine. Oh was I wrong. I didn't realize how affordable and compact they could be. Check out these laminators and be amazed at how reasonable it is to have one and give to your favorite homeschooling mom.

10. Paper Cutter

This goes right along with the laminator and printer. Honestly, you'd be surprised how much paper we go through. Well, if given the chance (like Christmas for example) give us a paper cutter to save our hands from using scissors all the time. Even if we have to still cut some of the details out, having a paper cutter will take save a lot of effort. Here are some options for paper cutters than can get the job done.

11. Slippers

This is perfect now thats it's cold outside! This might be equivalent of getting someone new socks, which I always enjoy a good quality pair of socks, but slippers are a whole nother level of comfort and convenience. Personally, I've just recently learned to appreciate house slippers. They keep my feet warm like socks do, but with way more convenience, comfort, and extra insulation. It is a small luxury, but still a luxury worth investing in.

12. Vacation

You might be thinking, “Didn't I already say to get them an experience?” Yes I did, but this a bit more than that. This isn't just a one day, certificate type thing. This is a full on multi day vacation! So do some research, pick a date, put down a deposit, and then reveal it to the homeschooling mom in your life! I will put a disclaimer on this though if you are not aware of the finances, either become aware and set a realistic expectation for the timing of this vacation, or give a credit or certificate that can be used in the future.
